Dr. Smith Keston Smith, BVet Med Dr. Smith is a proud second generation veterinarian who grew up in a small town in the Midwest working side by side with his father in his veterinary hospital. When he wasn't in the hospital, he was either helping to rehabilitate the wildlife and exotic animals that his father brought home from work, or taking care of the farm animals on their small five acre homestead. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City where he earned his biology degree in 2007. During this time, he worked in a genetics laboratory at the university and as an elephant keeper at the Kansas City Zoo. After finishing his undergraduate degree, he was accepted into the Royal Veterinary College in London England, graduating in 2012.
During his veterinary studies, Dr. Smith had the opportunity to travel to Thailand where he continued to follow his love of elephants by researching Asian Elephant social structure. He also met his future wife in London who was also studying to be a veterinarian. They now live together in Manhattan with their young son, Landon, and their loyal cat, Lincoln. Both work as small animal veterinarians in New York City. Dr. Smith has always loved and respected animals and from a young age was taught how to care for and treat them. In his view there is no better occupation then veterinary medicine which allows him to be an advocate for the most innocent individuals of our families. Dr. Stephanie Spencer Veterinarian Dr. Spencer has always loved working with animals and has had pets of all shapes and sizes. She grew up in Connecticut, where her passion for animals blossomed as she was active in horseback riding, pet sitting, and interning at the local zoo. She was never far from a veterinary clinic, volunteering any and all free time to learning about the profession. She received a degree in animal science at the University of Connecticut, during which time she studied abroad in Tanzania. This was a life changing experience, where she studied behavior and population of giraffes and elephants in their natural habitat, as well as immersing herself in the local culture.
Dr. Spencer then moved to Gainesville, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. During her summers off, she traveled to South Africa to instruct prospective veterinary students about the profession, as well as leading teams of students in anesthetizing and relocating local wildlife to safer locations. She currently practices medicine in New Jersey, where she is most passionate about dentistry and surgery. In her free time, she loves traveling, running, hiking and spending time with her two rescue dogs Madison and Ace. She can’t wait to meet you and care for your furry loved ones!
