Dr. Sydney Friedman

Veterinarian

Dr. Sydney Friedman has always had an interest in animals. She was known as the “animal girl” from a young age and would always help her friends by removing the “scary” animals, like snakes and spiders, from the premises. She grew up in northern New Jersey, where she began volunteering at veterinary clinics during her high school years, confirming her love for veterinary medicine. Dr. Friedman received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont, where she participated in the C.R.E.A.M. program, a for-profit student-run dairy barn. This experience expanded her love to animals of all sizes.

Upon graduating, Dr. Friedman moved to the Caribbean island of Grenada to pursue both her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine as well as her Master of Public Health from St. George’s University. She became fully immersed in the wildlife, culture, and everything the island had to offer. She completed her final clinical year of veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin. In her free time, she loves to exercise, try new things, and spend time with her friends and family. She is very excited to meet you and your fur babies and begin this new adventure!

Dr. Amy Kantor

Medical Director

Dr. Kantor grew up in the DC area but New York City was always home to her, even as a child. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania Vet School and went on to complete an internship and surgical residency at the prestigious Utrecht University, in the Netherlands. She primarily has been working as a surgeon within a general practice setting in NYC since 1998 and has a devoted clientele which has followed her for over two decades. Dr. Kantor volunteered her veterinary services to the homeless in NYC ( Collide ) for over a decade and is part of Vets International, volunteering annually as a surgeon in remote areas of Guatemala. She performs both complex and routine soft tissue surgeries (some orthopedic surgeries) and sees routine referral appointments.

Dr. Kantor joined Hoboken Vets Animal Clinic as the Medical Director in the fall of 2022 and is excited to offer her surgical expertise and general practice experience to the city of Hoboken and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Kantor lives in Brooklyn near two of her three sons and their dog Celeste.
