Dr. Amy Kantor

Medical Director

Dr. Kantor grew up in the DC area but New York City was always home to her, even as a child. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania Vet School and went on to complete an internship and surgical residency at the prestigious Utrecht University, in the Netherlands. She primarily has been working as a surgeon within a general practice setting in NYC since 1998 and has a devoted clientele which has followed her for over two decades. Dr. Kantor volunteered her veterinary services to the homeless in NYC ( Collide ) for over a decade and is part of Vets International, volunteering annually as a surgeon in remote areas of Guatemala. She performs both complex and routine soft tissue surgeries (some orthopedic surgeries) and sees routine referral appointments.

Dr. Kantor joined Hoboken Vets Animal Clinic as the Medical Director in the fall of 2022 and is excited to offer her surgical expertise and general practice experience to the city of Hoboken and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Kantor lives in Brooklyn near two of her three sons and their dog Celeste.

Dr. Sydney Friedman

Veterinarian

Dr. Sydney Friedman has always had an interest in animals. She was known as the “animal girl” from a young age and would always help her friends by removing the “scary” animals, like snakes and spiders, from the premises. She grew up in northern New Jersey, where she began volunteering at veterinary clinics during her high school years, confirming her love for veterinary medicine. Dr. Friedman received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont, where she participated in the C.R.E.A.M. program, a for-profit student-run dairy barn. This experience expanded her love to animals of all sizes.

Upon graduating, Dr. Friedman moved to the Caribbean island of Grenada to pursue both her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine as well as her Master of Public Health from St. George’s University. She became fully immersed in the wildlife, culture, and everything the island had to offer. She completed her final clinical year of veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin. In her free time, she loves to exercise, try new things, and spend time with her friends and family. She is very excited to meet you and your fur babies and begin this new adventure!

Dr. Dawn Fiedorczyk

Veterinarian

Dr. Fiedorczyk was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in the small town of West Wyoming, PA. She majored in biology at College Misericordia (now Misericordia University). She completed her masters in biology at East Stroudsburg University. She then attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania and was a graduate of the class of 2010.

Dr. Fiedorczyk started her career working as a veterinarian assistant in small animal veterinary emergency medicine (ER), small animal surgery, and small animal general practice (GP). She began work as a veterinarian at a small ER in Northeastern PA while also doing small animal and exotics day practice relief work. She dedicated her spare time to helping out at a local shelter.

She is the current president of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) and the past president of the Northeast Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (NEPVMA). She started her career with PVMA during veterinary school as student representative. She later continued as District III Board of Trustee and Education Committee Chair. Dawn realizes that service to the community (through Henry’s Helping Hands and the Last Chance Fund) and the entire veterinary team (through scholarships) is important and serves on the Board of Trustees for Animal Cares PA, the charitable arm of the PVMA.

She has a strong interest in helping to maintain the personal well-being of those within the veterinary profession and serves as a moderator for the veterinary Not One More Vet (NOMV). NOMV is a support resource available for all members of the veterinary team.  Dawn feels that mental health is just as essential as physical health. Empathy, acceptance and education are very important to her.

Dr. Fiedorczyk has strong interests in many areas of veterinary medicine, including, but not limited to: surgery, dentistry, pain management, shelter medicine, exotic animal medicine, and feline medicine. Promoting and fostering the human animal bond fuels her passions in her day to day through all aspects of medicine. Her goal is to work together more closely with our human medical counterparts to bring a more comprehensive approach to healthcare for both animals and humans.

In her spare time, she loves to cook and garden. While a 40-year resident of PA she is currently residing in West Milford, NJ with her husband, Christopher, and numerous feline family members. She has two nieces- Izabella and Annalyse- with whom she dotes on and loves to pieces.

Dr. Belen Albarracin

Veterinarian

Dr. Belen completed her veterinary degree at Cornell University. Before veterinary school, she conducted research at Columbia University and worked as a surgical assistant at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. Throughout her education, Dr. Belen has contributed to medical advancement by working on multiple human and animal biomedical research studies. Dr. Belen’s interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and clinical research. At Hoboken Vets, Dr. Belen aims to foster strong long-term client/patient relationships and provide the highest quality medical care for her patients.

Growing up in Ecuador with farm animals of all types, Dr. Belen learned to love and respect animals at a very early age. She became interested in veterinary medicine after her own dog was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. That’s when she decided to switch career paths from criminal justice to veterinary medicine. Since then, she has worked hard to become a well-rounded veterinarian so that she can provide the best care for her patients and the right support for their owners.

During her time off, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones including Charlie, her family dog, in Long Island NY. She also enjoys helping shelters and fostering shelter animals. Charlie, in fact, is a failed foster.
